MontBlancAI keeps your people informed about what's happening on the shop floor — threshold violations, detected anomalies, machine connectivity issues. This article explains how notifications find their recipients and how teams and individuals control what they receive.
Notification Types
Type | What triggers it |
Threshold violation | A signal crossed a configured threshold |
Anomaly detected | The anomaly detection system flagged unusual behavior |
Machine connectivity | A machine's data connection changed state |
Delivery channels
Notifications are delivered over:
Email (the default)
SMS
WhatsApp
Each user chooses their own channels per notification type (see below). SMS and WhatsApp require a verified phone number.
How a notification reaches you
Operational alerts are addressed to teams: MontBlancAI resolves the affected signal to its equipment, the equipment to its resource groups, and the resource groups to the teams responsible for them. From there:
Team check — the team's notification settings are consulted. If the team has the notification type switched off, its members are skipped entirely.
Personal preferences — each remaining team member's own preferences decide the channels used (or whether they've muted the type).
Contacts — the notification goes out to the member's verified contact details in their preferred language (English, German, or Spanish).
Some administrative notifications are addressed to organization owners and admins directly rather than to teams.
Team notification settings
Every team has an on/off switch per notification type. All types are enabled by default — switching one off means no member of that team receives that type through the team.
Team notification settings can be viewed by any member and changed by organization owners, admins, or holders of the team management permission — from the team's settings, under notification preferences.
Use this when a team's scope makes a notification type irrelevant — for example, switching off Signal Connectivity for a maintenance-only team.
Personal notification preferences
Each user manages their own preferences, per organization and per notification type:
Channels — pick any combination of email, SMS, and WhatsApp. Without an explicit preference, notifications arrive by email.
Mute — disable a notification type entirely; you won't receive it on any channel.

Contact details and verification
Notification channels use the contact details in your profile:
Your account email is always available for email notifications, and you can add alternative email addresses.
Phone numbers for SMS and WhatsApp must be verified — you'll receive a verification code to confirm the number before it can be used.
You can add several contacts per channel, mark one as primary, and disable individual contacts without deleting them.
Frequently asked questions
Why didn't I receive an alert? Check, in order: is your team responsible for the affected equipment's resource group? Is the notification type enabled for your team? Have you muted the type in your personal preferences? Is the contact for your chosen channel verified and enabled?
Can I get alerts for equipment outside my teams? No — operational alerts follow team responsibility. Ask an administrator to add you to the relevant team.
Do deactivated users receive notifications? No, notifications are only sent to active members.
